AUTHOR'S / SPONSOR'S STATEMENT OF INTENT

 

Currently, barbers and cosmetologists are required to practice at a fixed facility.  As proposed, S.B. 984 allows for the operation of barbershops and cosmetology facilities at mobile locations. 

 

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

 

This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency.

 

SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS

 

SECTION 1.  Amends Subchapter G, Chapter 1601, Occupations Code, by adding Section 1601.306, as follows:

 

Sec. 1601.306.  MOBILE LOCATION ALLOWED.  Authorizes a barbershop to be operated at a mobile location.

 

SECTION 2.  Amends Subchapter G, Chapter 1602, Occupations Code, by adding Section 1602.307, as follows:

 

Sec. 1602.307.  MOBILE LOCATION ALLOWED.  Authorizes a facility at which cosmetology is practiced to be a mobile location.

 

SECTION 3.  Effective date: upon passage or September 1, 2007.
