BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE

 

The bill repeals the exception of Dallas County and certain Harris County probate courts from the option of hiring an associate judge, if the presiding judge and the commissioners court agree to it;  thus allowing every probate court in Texas to hire an associate judge

 

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

 

It is the committee's opinion that this bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, department, agency, or institution. 

 

ANALYSIS

 

The bill repeals Section 54.602, Government Code.

 

EFFECTIVE DATE

 

September 1, 2007.
