AUTHOR'S / SPONSOR'S STATEMENT OF INTENT

 

C.S.S.B. 1125 repeals the exception of Dallas County and certain Harris County probate courts from the option of hiring an associate judge, if the presiding judge and the commissioners court agree to it;  thus allowing every probate court in Texas to hire an associate judge.

 

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

 

This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to any state officer, institution, or agency.

 

SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS

 

SECTION 1.  Repealer: Section 54.602 (providing that this subchapter (Subchapter G: Statutory Probate Court Associate Judges) does not apply to the statutory probate courts of Dallas County or Harris County, except Probate Courts Nos. 1 and 3), Government Code.

 

SECTION 2.  Effective date: September 1, 2007.
