AUTHOR'S / SPONSOR'S STATEMENT OF INTENT
Currently, there are no uniform reporting requirements for various state boards overseeing health care professionals. Because of a lack of uniform reporting, the legislature is unable to assess the efficacy of certain board actions.
C.S.S.B. 1313 requires health occupation regulatory agencies to file an annual report with each legislative committee with oversight responsibility for the reporting board.
RULEMAKING AUTHORITY
SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS
SECTION 1. Amends Subtitle A, Title 3, Occupations Code, by adding Chapter 113, as follows:
CHAPTER 113. REPORTING REQUIREMENTS APPLICABLE TO MULTIPLE HEALTH OCCUPATION REGULATORY AGENCIES
Sec. 113.001. DEFINITIONS. Defines "health care practitioner" and "health occupation regulatory agency."
Sec. 113.002. ANNUAL REPORT TO LEGISLATURE. (a) Requires each health occupation regulatory agency to file a report with the chairs of the house and senate committees with primary oversight over the agency that includes certain information not later than February 1 of each year. Sets forth the required information to be included in the report.
(b) Requires the Health Professional Council to adopt a standard format that must be used by health occupation regulatory agencies to report the information required under Subsection (a).
SECTION 2. Requires the Health Professions Council to adopt a standard reporting format to be used by agencies to report information required under Section 113.002(b), Occupations Code, as added by this Act, not later than January 1, 2008.
SECTION 3. Effective date: September 1, 2007.
