AUTHOR'S / SPONSOR'S STATEMENT OF INTENT
As proposed, S.B. 1533 transfers property currently belonging to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice to Burnet County for the purpose of building a new county jail facility.
RULEMAKING AUTHORITY
SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS
SECTION 1. (a) Requires the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) to transfer to Burnet County the real property described by Subsection (d) of this section, not later than November 1, 2007.
(b) Requires Burnet County to use the property transferred under this Act for a purpose that benefits the public interest of the state. Provides that if Burnet County uses the property for any other purpose, ownership of the property automatically reverts to TDCJ.
(c) Authorizes TDCJ to transfer the property by an appropriate instrument of transfer. Requires the instrument of transfer to provide that Burnet County is required to use the property transferred under this Act only for a purpose that benefits the public interest of the state, and ownership of the property will automatically revert to TDCJ if Burnet County no longer uses the property for a purpose that benefits the public interest of the state. Requires the instrument of transfer to describe the property to be transferred by metes and bounds.
(d) Provides that the real property referred to in this section is described as follows:
