AUTHOR'S / SPONSOR'S STATEMENT OF INTENT

 

Current law requires the salary of a county court at law judge to not exceed 90 percent of the total annual salary received by a district judge in the county.

 

As proposed, S.B. 2016 requires the judge of a county court at law to be paid an annual salary that is not less than $1,000 less than the total annual salary received by a district judge in the county. 

 

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

 

This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency.

 

SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS

 

SECTION 1.  Amends Section 25.0942(d), Government Code, to require the judge of a county court at law to be paid an annual salary that is not less than $1,000 less than, rather than does not exceed the amount that is 90 percent of, the total annual salary received by a district judge in the county.  Authorizes the salary to be paid in equal monthly installments.

 

SECTION 2.  Effective date: October 1, 2007.
