A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the filing of campaign finance reports with the Texas |
|
|
Ethics Commission. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 254.036, Election Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Subsection (b-1) to read as follows: |
|
|
(b-1) A report filed with the commission that complies with |
|
|
Subsection (a) or that is filed on computer diskette under |
|
|
Subsection (b) must be delivered: |
|
|
(1) by hand; or |
|
|
(2) by overnight delivery through: |
|
|
(A) the United States mail; or |
|
|
(B) a contract carrier. |
|
|
SECTION 2. Section 254.036(b-1), Election Code, as added by |
|
|
this Act, applies only to the filing of a report under Chapter 254, |
|
|
Election Code, that is due on or after September 1, 2007. A report |
|
|
under Chapter 254, Election Code, that is due before September 1, |
|
|
2007, may be filed as permitted by the law in effect on the date the |
|
|
report is due, and the former law is continued in effect for that |
|
|
purpose. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2007. |
