A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|

|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to registered sex offenders and alternative education |
|
|
placement. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

|
SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 37, Education Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Subsection (p) to read as follows: |
|
|
(p) Upon receipt of notice under the Code of Criminal |
|
|
Procedure, Article 15.27 or Article 62.053 regarding registered sex |
|
|
offenders, the superintendent or designee upon enrollment of a |
|
|
student who is a registered sex offender shall immediately place |
|
|
that student in a disciplinary alternative education program. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2007-2008 |
|
|
school year. |
|
|
|
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2007. |
