A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to a residential infant care program for mothers confined |
|
in Texas Department of Criminal Justice facilities. |
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 501, Government Code, is |
|
amended by adding Section 501.022 to read as follows: |
|
Sec. 501.022. INFANT CARE AND PARENTING. The department |
|
shall implement a residential infant care and parenting program for |
|
mothers who are confined by the department. To the extent |
|
practicable, the department shall model the program after the |
|
Federal Bureau of Prisons' Mothers and Infants Together program |
|
operated under contract in Fort Worth. |
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2007. |
