A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|

AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to public use of computers in certain local public |
|
|
libraries. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Chapter 315, Local Government Code, is amended |
|
|
by adding Section 315.007 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 315.007. COMPUTER ACCESS IN CERTAIN PUBLIC LIBRARIES. |
|
|
A municipal public library in a municipality with a population of |
|
|
more than 50,000: |
|
|
(1) shall provide computers with high-speed Internet |
|
|
access for use by the public; and |
|
|
(2) may charge a reasonable fee for use of the |
|
|
computers. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2007 |
