A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the creation and dissemination by the Veterans' Land |
|
|
Board and the Texas Residential Construction Commission of a list |
|
|
of builders who provide certain types of building services. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 162, Natural Resources |
|
|
Code, is amended by adding Section 162.007 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 162.007. BUILDER LIST. (a) In this section, "volume |
|
|
builder" means a builder who sells at least 100 homes each year. |
|
|
(b) The board and the Texas Residential Construction |
|
|
Commission shall create and make accessible to the public an |
|
|
electronic list and a hard-copy list of builders who: |
|
|
(1) are registered with the Texas Residential |
|
|
Construction Commission; and |
|
|
(2) provide in this state building services, including |
|
|
accessible floor plans, to persons with mobility-related special |
|
|
needs. |
|
|
(c) The electronic list required under Subsection (b) shall |
|
|
provide, if available, the following information with respect to |
|
|
each listed builder: |
|
|
(1) a link to the builder's website; and |
|
|
(2) contact information for the builder, including the |
|
|
municipalities where the builder provides building services |
|
|
described by Subsection (b)(2). |
|
|
(d) The Texas Residential Construction Commission shall |
|
|
contact all volume builders in this state who do not provide |
|
|
building services to persons with mobility-related special needs as |
|
|
described by Subsection (b)(2) and encourage those builders to |
|
|
develop floor plans that are designed to be accessible for persons |
|
|
with mobility-related special needs. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2007. |
