A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to prohibiting a grant from the Texas Enterprise Fund to a |
|
|
recipient who employs an undocumented worker. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 481.078, Government Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Subsection (k) to read as follows: |
|
|
(k) A grant of money from the fund may be made to a recipient |
|
|
only if the comptroller certifies that the recipient does not |
|
|
employ a person who is not lawfully entitled to be present and |
|
|
employed in the United States. The comptroller by rule may develop a |
|
|
procedure for making a certification under this subsection. A |
|
|
proposed recipient shall provide information to and cooperate with |
|
|
the comptroller as necessary to implement this subsection. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2007. |
