A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the designation of a portion of United States Highway |
|
|
287 as the Martin Luther King, Jr., Freeway. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 225, Transportation Code, |
|
|
is amended by adding Section 225.062 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 225.062. MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR., FREEWAY. (a) The |
|
|
part of United States Highway 287 located in the municipal |
|
|
boundaries of the City of Fort Worth is designated as the Martin |
|
|
Luther King, Jr., Freeway. |
|
|
(b) The department shall design and construct memorial |
|
|
markers indicating the highway number, the designation as the |
|
|
Martin Luther King, Jr., Freeway, and any other appropriate |
|
|
information. |
|
|
(c) The department shall erect a marker at each end of the |
|
|
highway and at appropriate intermediate sites along the highway. |
|
|
(d) The department is not required to design, construct, or |
|
|
erect a marker under this section unless the department receives a |
|
|
grant or donation to cover the cost of the design, construction, and |
|
|
erection. |
|
|
(e) In this section, a reference to the municipal boundaries |
|
|
of the City of Fort Worth means those boundaries as they exist on |
|
|
September 1, 2007. |

SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2007 |
