A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the name of the Brazos River Harbor Navigation District |
|
|
of Brazoria County and the name of its governing body. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Chapter 55, Acts of the 40th Legislature, 1st |
|
|
Called Session, 1927, is amended by adding Section 4e to read as |
|
|
follows: |
|
|
Sec. 4e. (a) The name of the Brazos River Harbor Navigation |
|
|
District of Brazoria County is changed to "Port Freeport." |
|
|
(b) The name of the governing body of the Brazos River |
|
|
Harbor Navigation District is changed to the "Port Commission," and |
|
|
the name of each member of the Port Commission is changed to "Port |
|
|
Commissioner." |
|
|
(c) A reference in law to the Brazos River Harbor Navigation |
|
|
District of Brazoria County means Port Freeport. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2007. |
