A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the salary of a district judge presiding over |
|
|
multidistrict litigation. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 659.012, Government Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Subsection (f) to read as follows: |
|
|
(f) Notwithstanding the salary limitation provided by |
|
|
Subsection (a)(1) and notwithstanding any other law, a district |
|
|
judge who presides over at least one proceeding transferred to a |
|
|
district court under Subchapter H, Chapter 74, in a state fiscal |
|
|
year is entitled to the same increase in annual salary from the |
|
|
state for that fiscal year as a local administrative district judge |
|
|
is entitled to under Subsection (d). Notwithstanding any other |
|
|
law, supplemental compensation paid to a district judge under this |
|
|
subsection is not included as part of the district judge's total |
|
|
annual salary for purposes of computing another salary that is |
|
|
based on the salary of the district judge. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2007. |
