A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the provision of certain information to public school |
|
|
employees whose employment is terminated. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 22, Education Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 22.009 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 22.009. STATEMENT OF ADMINISTRATIVE PROCEDURES AND |
|
|
REMEDIES REQUIRED. A school district that terminates the |
|
|
employment of a school district employee shall provide to the |
|
|
employee a written statement of any administrative procedures and |
|
|
remedies the employee must exhaust before the employee may bring |
|
|
suit against the district for the termination. |
|
|
SECTION 2. Section 22.009, Education Code, as added by this |
|
|
Act, applies only to a termination that occurs on or after September |
|
|
1, 2007. A termination that occurs before September 1, 2007, is |
|
|
governed by the law in effect when the termination occurred, and the |
|
|
former law is continued in effect for that purpose. |

SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2007. |
