A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the provision of certain information to public school
employees whose employment is terminated.
       BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
       SECTION 1.  Subchapter A, Chapter 22, Education Code, is
amended by adding Section 22.009 to read as follows:
       Sec. 22.009.  STATEMENT OF ADMINISTRATIVE PROCEDURES AND
REMEDIES REQUIRED.  A school district that terminates the
employment of a school district employee shall provide to the
employee a written statement of any administrative procedures and
remedies the employee must exhaust before the employee may bring
suit against the district for the termination.
       SECTION 2.  Section 22.009, Education Code, as added by this
Act, applies only to a termination that occurs on or after September
1, 2007.  A termination that occurs before September 1, 2007, is
governed by the law in effect when the termination occurred, and the
former law is continued in effect for that purpose.
       SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2007.
