A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
 
  relating to public access to personal financial statements filed by
  judges and justices.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Section 572.032, Government Code, is amended by
  adding Subsection (a-1) to read as follows:
         (a-1) The commission shall remove the home address of a judge
  or justice from a financial statement filed under this subchapter
  before:
               (1)  permitting a member of the public to view the
  statement; or
               (2)  providing a copy of the statement to a member of
  the public.
         SECTION 2.  Section 572.032(a-1), Government Code, as added
  by this Act, applies to a financial statement filed under
  Subchapter B, Chapter 572, Government Code, regardless of whether
  the statement was required to be filed before, on, or after the
  effective date of this Act.
         SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
  a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
  provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.  If this
  Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
  Act takes effect September 1, 2007.
