A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the use of public school educators' days of service for |
|
|
which instruction is not required. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 11.253(e), Education Code, is amended to |
|
|
read as follows: |
|
|
(e) In accordance with the administrative procedures |
|
|
established under Section 11.251(b), the campus-level committee |
|
|
shall be involved in decisions in the areas of planning, budgeting, |
|
|
curriculum, staffing patterns, staff development, and school |
|
|
organization. The campus-level committee must approve: |
|
|
(1) the portions of the campus plan addressing campus |
|
|
staff development needs; and |
|
|
(2) the use of educators' days of service for which |
|
|
instruction is not required, if the campus is rated exemplary or |
|
|
recognized under Chapter 39. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2007-2008 |
|
|
school year. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2007. |
