A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to accident report forms prepared by the Department of |
|
|
Public Safety and the release of information included on an |
|
|
accident report. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 550.064, Transportation Code, is amended |
|
|
by adding Subsection (c) to read as follows: |
|
|
(c) An accident report form prepared by the department may |
|
|
not provide for or require the disclosure of the telephone number of |
|
|
a person involved in an accident. |
|
|
SECTION 2. Section 550.065, Transportation Code, is amended |
|
|
by adding Subsection (c-1) to read as follows: |
|
|
(c-1) Before the 31st day after the date of a motor vehicle |
|
|
accident, the department or a governmental entity may release |
|
|
information described by Subsection (a) that relates to the |
|
|
accident only to: |
|
|
(1) an entity described by Subsection (c)(1), (2), or |
|
|
(3); or |
|
|
(2) a person involved in the accident or the person's |
|
|
parent, sibling, or spouse. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2007. |
