A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
relating to certain incentives offered in relation to an accident |
|
and health insurance policy for participation in health promotion |
|
or disease prevention programs. |
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 1201, Insurance Code, is |
|
amended by adding Section 1201.013 to read as follows: |
|
Sec. 1201.013. HEALTH PROMOTION AND DISEASE PREVENTION |
|
PROGRAMS. (a) An insurer issuing an accident and health insurance |
|
policy may establish a premium discount, rebate, or reduction in an |
|
otherwise applicable copayment or deductible for an insured who |
|
adheres to a program of health promotion or disease prevention. |
|
(b) A discount, rebate, or reduction established under this |
|
section does not violate Section 541.056(a). |
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2007. |
