A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the requirement that a detector for certain |
|
|
traffic-actuated electric traffic-control devices register the |
|
|
presence of a motorcycle. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Chapter 544, Transportation Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Section 544.0075 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 544.0075. CERTAIN TRAFFIC-ACTUATED ELECTRIC |
|
|
TRAFFIC-CONTROL SIGNALS. (a) This section applies only to a |
|
|
traffic-actuated electric traffic-control signal that: |
|
|
(1) consists of a traffic-control signal for which the |
|
|
intervals vary according to the demands of vehicular traffic, as |
|
|
registered by a detector; and |
|
|
(2) is installed at an intersection and permits or |
|
|
directs an operator facing the signal to make a left turn onto an |
|
|
intersecting street. |

|
(b) In addition to any other type of vehicle the presence of |
|
|
which the detector for the traffic-actuated electric |
|
|
traffic-control signal may register, the detector for a |
|
|
traffic-actuated electric traffic-control device to which this |
|
|
section applies must be designed and installed so that the detector |
|
|
registers the presence of a motorcycle that is permitted or |
|
|
directed to make a left turn onto an intersecting street. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2007. |
