A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the appeal of a decision of the Texas Ethics Commission. |
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. Sections 571.133(a) and (b), Government Code, |
|
are amended to read as follows: |
|
(a) To appeal a final decision of the commission, the |
|
respondent or the respondent's agent [a person] may file a petition |
|
in a district court in Travis County or in the county in which the |
|
respondent resides. |
|
(b) The petition must be filed not later than the 30th |
|
business day after the date the respondent [person] received the |
|
decision. |
|
SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only |
|
to a proceeding under Subchapter E, Chapter 571, Government Code, |
|
with respect to which a preliminary review was begun on or after |
|
September 1, 2007. A proceeding under Subchapter E, Chapter 571, |
|
Government Code, with respect to which a preliminary review was |
|
begun before September 1, 2007, is governed by the law as it existed |
|
immediately before that date, and that law is continued in effect |
|
for that purpose. |
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2007. |
