AN ACT
  relating to licensing and regulation of event coordinators for
  combative sports.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Section 2052.002, Occupations Code, is amended
  by adding Subdivision (11-a) to read as follows:
               (11-a)  "Event coordinator" means a person who performs
  any function to arrange, conduct, or stage a combative sports event
  promoted by another person, other than a permanent full-time
  employee of the promoter of the event. The term does not include an
  employee of an event coordinator.
         SECTION 2.  Section 2052.107, Occupations Code, is amended
  to read as follows:
         Sec. 2052.107.  OTHER COMBATIVE SPORTS LICENSES. Unless a
  person holds a license or registration issued under this chapter,
  the person may not act as a combative sports:
               (1)  professional contestant;
               (2)  manager of a professional contestant;
               (3)  referee;
               (4)  judge;
               (5)  second;
               (6)  timekeeper;
               (7)  matchmaker; [or]
               (8)  ringside physician; or
               (9)  event coordinator.
         SECTION 3.  Not later than December 1, 2007, the Texas
  Commission of Licensing and Regulation shall adopt the rules
  necessary to implement the changes in law made by this Act.
         SECTION 4.  Notwithstanding Section 2052.107, Occupations
  Code, as added by this Act, a person is not required to hold an event
  coordinator license or registration to act as a combative sports
  event coordinator before January 1, 2008.
         SECTION 5.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2007.
