A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the annexation by certain municipalities of land owned |
|
by a navigation district. |
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter D, Chapter 43, Local Government Code, |
|
is amended by adding Section 43.082 to read as follows: |
|
Sec. 43.082. ANNEXATION BY CERTAIN MUNICIPALITIES OF LAND |
|
OWNED BY NAVIGATION DISTRICT. A municipality with a population of |
|
less than 30,000 that borders the Gulf of Mexico and that seeks to |
|
annex land owned by a navigation district operating under Section |
|
59, Article XVI, Texas Constitution, must have the consent of the |
|
district to annex the land. |
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2007. |
