A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the public posting or other display of Texas bar
examination results.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1.  Subchapter B, Chapter 82, Government Code, is
amended by adding Section 82.0295 to read as follows:
Sec. 82.0295.  DISPLAY OF BAR EXAMINATION RESULTS. The
Board of Law Examiners may not post or otherwise display at any
location or in any manner that is accessible to the public,
including on the board's Internet website, the names of examinees
who passed or did not pass the Texas bar examination. This section
does not prohibit the board from posting or otherwise displaying
the results of the examination in a manner that uses only unique
identifiers assigned to examinees that conceal the examinees'
identities from the public.
SECTION 2.  The change in law made by this Act applies only
to Texas bar examination results released by the Board of Law
Examiners on or after the effective date of this Act.
SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.  If this
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
Act takes effect September 1, 2007.
