A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the public posting or other display of Texas bar |
examination results. |
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 82, Government Code, is |
amended by adding Section 82.0295 to read as follows: |
Sec. 82.0295. DISPLAY OF BAR EXAMINATION RESULTS. The |
Board of Law Examiners may not post or otherwise display at any |
location or in any manner that is accessible to the public, |
including on the board's Internet website, the names of examinees |
who passed or did not pass the Texas bar examination. This section |
does not prohibit the board from posting or otherwise displaying |
the results of the examination in a manner that uses only unique |
identifiers assigned to examinees that conceal the examinees'
identities from the public. |
SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only |
to Texas bar examination results released by the Board of Law |
Examiners on or after the effective date of this Act. |
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
Act takes effect September 1, 2007. |
