A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to prohibiting a grant from the Texas Enterprise Fund to an |
|
|
employer who employs one or more persons who are not lawfully |
|
|
entitled to be present and employed in the United States. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 481.078, Government Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Subsection (k) to read as follows: |
|
|
(k) A grant of money from the fund may be made to an employer |
|
|
only if the comptroller certifies that the employer does not employ |
|
|
one or more persons who are not lawfully entitled to be present and |
|
|
employed in the United States. The comptroller by rule shall |
|
|
develop a procedure for making a certification under this |
|
|
subsection. A proposed recipient shall provide information to and |
|
|
cooperate with the comptroller as necessary to implement this |
|
|
subsection. |

|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2007. |
