A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
relating to the creation of the Duval, Jim Hogg, and Starr Counties |
|
Juvenile Board and the abolition of the Starr County and Duval |
|
County Juvenile Boards. |
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter D, Chapter 152, Human Resources Code, |
|
is amended by adding Section 152.0722 to read as follows: |
|
Sec. 152.0722. DUVAL, JIM HOGG, AND STARR COUNTIES. (a) |
|
The Duval, Jim Hogg, and Starr Counties Juvenile Board is composed |
|
of the county judges of each of those counties, the district judges |
|
in each of those counties, and the judge of the County Court at Law |
|
of Starr County. |
|
(b) The juvenile board shall elect one of its members as |
|
chairman. |
|
(c) The commissioners courts of the counties shall pay each |
|
member of the juvenile board an annual salary agreed to and set by |
|
the commissioners courts at not more than $1,200 or more than $3,600 |
|
for the added duties imposed on the members. The salary shall be |
|
paid in equal monthly installments from the general funds of the |
|
counties in proportion to the populations of the counties, unless |
|
the counties agree to a different method for apportioning the |
|
salary. |
|
(d) The juvenile board shall appoint not more than five |
|
persons to serve on an advisory council. |
|
(e) Sections 152.0002, 152.0004, 152.0005, 152.0006, |
|
152.0007, and 152.0008 do not apply to the juvenile board. |
|
SECTION 2. The Duval County Juvenile Board and the Starr |
|
County Juvenile Board are abolished on the effective date of this |
|
Act. |
|
SECTION 3. Sections 152.0721 and 152.2201, Human Resources |
|
Code, are repealed. |
|
SECTION 4. This Act takes effect October 1, 2007. |
