A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the amount of the fee for issuing certain alcoholic
beverage permits.
       BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
       SECTION 1.  Section 25.02(b), Alcoholic Beverage Code, is
amended to read as follows:
       (b)  The annual state fee for a wine and beer retailer's
permit in connection with an establishment located in a county with
a population of 1.4 million or more is $750. The original
application fee for a wine and beer retailer's permit in connection
with an establishment located in a county with a population of 1.4
million or more is $1,000. This subsection does not apply to the
holder of a food and beverage certificate.
       SECTION 2.  The change in law made by this Act applies only
to a fee due on or after the effective date of this Act.  A fee due
before the effective date of this Act is governed by the law in
effect immediately before the effective date of this Act, and that
law is continued in effect for that purpose.
       SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2007.
