A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the issuance of revenue bonds to fund facilities at |
|
|
Texas A&M University--Central Texas. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 55.1751(d), Education Code, is amended |
|
|
to read as follows: |
|
|
(d) Notwithstanding Subsection (a), The Texas A&M |
|
|
University System may not issue bonds under this section for |
|
|
facilities at Texas A&M University--Central Texas until the Texas |
|
|
Higher Education Coordinating Board certifies that enrollment at |
|
|
the Tarleton State University System Center--Central Texas in |
|
|
Killeen [Texas A&M University--Central Texas] has reached the |
|
|
student [an] enrollment equivalent prescribed by Section 87.861(d) |
|
|
[of 1,500 full-time students for one semester]. If that enrollment |
|
|
is not reached by January 1, 2010, the system's authority to issue |
|
|
bonds for Texas A&M University--Central Texas under this section |
|
|
expires on that date. |

|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2007. |
