A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
 
  relating to cancellation or suspension of an alcoholic beverage
  license or permit.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Section 11.65, Alcoholic Beverage Code, is
  amended to read as follows:
         Sec. 11.65.  NOTICE OF CANCELLATION OR SUSPENSION. (a) A
  notice of cancellation or suspension of a license or permit shall be
  given to the licensee or permittee as provided by Section 2001.142,
  Government Code [personally or by registered or certified mail].
         (b) Cancellation or suspension is final and effective as
  provided by Section 2001.144, Government Code [takes effect when
  the notice is given or delivered].
         SECTION 2.  The change in law made by this Act applies only
  to notice of a cancellation or suspension of an alcoholic beverage
  license or permit given on or after the effective date of this Act.
  A notice given before the effective date of this Act is governed by
  the law in effect immediately before that date, and that law is
  continued in effect for that purpose.
         SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2007.
