A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to supplemental compensation for a county auditor. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. The heading to Section 152.032, Local Government |
|
|
Code, is amended to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 152.032. LIMITATIONS ON COUNTY AUDITOR'S COMPENSATION |
|
|
AND ALLOWANCES; SUPPLEMENTAL COMPENSATION. |
|
|
SECTION 2. Section 152.032, Local Government Code, is |
|
|
amended by amending Subsection (a) and adding Subsection (f) to |
|
|
read as follows: |
|
|
(a) Except as provided by Subsections (b), (d), [and] (e), |
|
|
and (f), the amount of the compensation and allowances of a county |
|
|
auditor may not exceed the amount of the compensation and |
|
|
allowances received from all sources by the highest paid elected |
|
|
county officer, other than a judge of a statutory county court, |
|
|
whose salary and allowances are set by the commissioners court. |
|
|
(f) The commissioners court of a county may supplement the |
|
|
compensation of the county auditor for the performance of county |
|
|
duties not required by this code. The limitations on compensation |
|
|
and allowances under this section do not apply to a supplement paid |
|
|
as provided by this subsection. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2007. |
