A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to longevity pay for certain campus peace officers |
|
|
employed by a state institution of higher education or public |
|
|
technical institute. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter E, Chapter 51, Education Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 51.2031 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 51.2031. LONGEVITY PAY FOR CAMPUS PEACE OFFICERS. |
|
|
Notwithstanding Subchapter D, Chapter 659, Government Code, or any |
|
|
other law, each peace officer commissioned under Section 51.203 by |
|
|
a state institution of higher education or public technical |
|
|
institute is entitled to receive, in addition to any other |
|
|
compensation and benefits the peace officer is entitled to receive, |
|
|
longevity pay in a monthly amount that is not less than $4 for each |
|
|
year of service with the institution or institute, as applicable, |
|
|
up to and including 25 years. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2007. |
