A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to continuing educational requirements of a justice of the |
|
|
peace who is a licensed attorney. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 27.005, Government Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Subsection (c) to read as follows: |
|
|
(c) A justice of the peace is not required to complete the |
|
|
educational requirements of Subsection (a)(2) for a year if the |
|
|
justice is a licensed attorney who completes the minimum continuing |
|
|
legal education requirements necessary to remain an active member |
|
|
of the state bar for that year. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2007. |
