AN ACT
relating to requiring all public institutions of higher education
to use the common course numbering system.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:

read as follows:
       (d)  An institution of higher education shall include in its
course listings the applicable course numbers from the common
course numbering system approved by the board under this section.
[For good cause, the board may grant to an institution of higher
education an exemption from the requirements of this subsection.]
SECTION 2.  An exemption from the common course numbering
system granted to an institution of higher education by the Texas
Higher Education Coordinating Board before the effective date of
this Act under Section 61.832(d), Education Code, as that section
existed before the effective date of this Act expires on September
1, 2008, and an institution to which the exemption applies must
comply with Section 61.832(d), Education Code, as amended by this
Act, not later than that date.
SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
