A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the use of certain terms to describe benefits for dental |
|
|
care services. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter E, Chapter 1451, Insurance Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 1451.208 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 1451.208. USE OF CERTAIN TERMS AUTHORIZED. An |
|
|
employee benefit plan or a health insurance policy may use any of |
|
|
the following terms, or analogous terms, to describe that the plan |
|
|
or policy provides payment or reimbursement for services provided |
|
|
by contracting provider dentists and noncontracting provider |
|
|
dentists: |
|
|
(1) preferred provider arrangement; |
|
|
(2) preferred provider organization; |
|
|
(3) network arrangement; |
|
|
(4) in-network services; |
|
|
(5) out-of-network services; and |
|
|
(6) participating provider organization. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2007. |
