A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to paying the costs incurred by a state agency that is |
|
|
deployed by the governor to respond to a natural disaster or other |
|
|
emergency. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 418.073, Government Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Subsection (c) to read as follows: |
|
|
(c) If the governor deploys the personnel or other resources |
|
|
of a state agency to respond to a natural disaster or other |
|
|
emergency, the governor shall pay the costs incurred by the agency |
|
|
resulting from the deployment from the disaster contingency fund |
|
|
without regard to whether the demands placed on funds otherwise |
|
|
appropriated to the agency are unreasonably great. The concurrence |
|
|
of the disaster emergency funding board is not required for a |
|
|
payment under this subsection. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2007. |
