A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to certain requirements for a program of study prescribed |
|
|
by the Board of Nurse Examiners for registered nurses. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 301.157, Occupations Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Subsection (a-1) to read as follows: |
|
|
(a-1) In determining whether to approve a diploma program |
|
|
under Subsection (a)(3), the board shall accept a nursing education |
|
|
program that maintains programmatic accreditation from a nursing |
|
|
accrediting agency recognized by the United States Department of |
|
|
Education and satisfies the board's other standards for a |
|
|
prescribed course of study for an approved school of nursing or |
|
|
educational program. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2007. |
