A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the authority of the State Board of Veterinary Medical
Examiners to assess certain administrative costs.
       BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
       SECTION 1.  Subchapter I, Chapter 801, Occupations Code, is
amended by adding Section 801.411 to read as follows:
       Sec. 801.411.  ASSESSMENT OF COSTS. The board may assess a
person who is found to have violated this chapter the
administrative costs of conducting a hearing to determine the
violation.
       SECTION 2.  The change in law made by this Act applies only
to a hearing conducted under Chapter 801, Occupations Code, on or
after the effective date of this Act.  A hearing conducted before
that date is governed by the law in effect on the date the hearing
was conducted, and the former law is continued in effect for that
purpose.
       SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.  If this
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
Act takes effect September 1, 2007.
