A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|

|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to reinstitution of the Urban Street Program. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter H, Chapter 201, Transportation Code, |
|
|
is amended by adding Section 201.621 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 201.621. URBAN STREET PROGRAM. The commission shall |
|
|
reinstitute the Urban Street Program, or undertake another program |
|
|
having the same functions and goals, in order to provide |
|
|
infrastructure in border communities as necessary to ensure |
|
|
efficient movement of international trade. In instituting the |
|
|
program, the commission shall consider the effect of activities |
|
|
resulting from or otherwise related to the North American Free |
|
|
Trade Agreement. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2007. |
