A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to discounts on highway tolls offered to certain disabled
veterans.
       BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
       SECTION 1.  Title 6, Chapter 366, Transportation Code, is
amended by adding Section 366.305 to read as follows:
       Sec. 366.305.  DISCOUNTS AUTHORIZED.  (a)  A Regional
Tollway Authority may issue vehicle tags to a veteran with a
service-connected disability, as defined by the Veteran's
Administration.  The discounts may cover the entire cost of tolls,
or may cover a portion of those costs.
       (b)  The Commissioner of the Department of Transportation
may formulate by rule guidelines to allow disabled veterans
entitled to a toll road discount in one locality to enjoy a
comparable discounts in another locality which offers the
discounts.
       SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
a vote of two-thirds of all members elected to each house, as
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.  If this
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
Act takes effect September 1, 2007.
