A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to eligibility of board members of certain rapid transit |
|
|
authorities to receive insurance benefits. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. The heading to Section 451.519, Transportation |
|
|
Code, is amended to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 451.519. BOARD MEMBERS: EXPENSES; PER DIEM; |
|
|
INSURANCE BENEFITS. |
|
|
SECTION 2. Section 451.519, Transportation Code, is amended |
|
|
by adding Subsection (d) to read as follows: |
|
|
(d) A board member of an authority in which the principal |
|
|
municipality has a population of less than 300,000 is eligible to |
|
|
participate in any health or other insurance benefit program |
|
|
offered to an employee of the authority as if the board member were |
|
|
an employee. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2007. |
