A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
 
  relating to the enforcement of the fares and other charges imposed
  by certain metropolitan rapid transit authorities.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Section 451.0611, Transportation Code, is
  amended by adding Subsection (g) to read as follows:
         (g)  An authority created before 1980 in which the principal
  municipality has a population of less than 1.2 million may allow
  peace officers of another political subdivision serving under a
  contract with the authority to enforce a resolution passed by a
  board under this section.
         SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
  a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
  provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.  If this
  Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
  Act takes effect September 1, 2007.
