A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
relating to the posting of statements, registrations, and reports |
|
filed with the Texas Ethics Commission on the commission's Internet |
|
website. |
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 571, Government Code, is |
|
amended by adding Section 571.0789 to read as follows: |
|
Sec. 571.0789. POSTING STATEMENTS, REGISTRATIONS, AND |
|
REPORTS ON WEBSITE. (a) This section applies to a statement, |
|
registration, or report filed with the commission under: |
|
(1) Chapter 302, 303, 305, 572, or 2004; |
|
(2) Subchapter C, Chapter 159, Local Government Code, |
|
by a county judicial officer, as defined by Section 159.051, Local |
|
Government Code, who elects to file a financial statement with the |
|
commission; or |
|
(3) Title 15, Election Code. |
|
(b) The commission shall post on its Internet website each |
|
statement, registration, or report filed with the commission not |
|
later than: |
|
(1) the 3rd business day after the date on which the |
|
statement, registration, or report is filed, if the statement, |
|
registration, or report is filed electronically; or |
|
(2) the 10th business day after the date on which the |
|
statement, registration, or report is filed, if the statement, |
|
registration, or report is not filed electronically. |
|
(c) Not later than November 1, 2007, the commission shall |
|
post on its website each personal financial statement filed with |
|
the commission for the 2000 calendar year or a later calendar year |
|
under: |
|
(1) Chapter 572; or |
|
(2) Subchapter C, Chapter 159, Local Government Code, |
|
by a county judicial officer who elects to file a financial |
|
statement with the commission. |
|
(d) Subsection (c) and this subsection expire January 1, |
|
2008. |
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2007. |
