A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to motor vehicle title service licenses. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 520.054, Transportation Code, is amended |
|
|
by amending Subsection (a) and adding Subsection (c) to read as |
|
|
follows: |
|
|
(a) An applicant for a motor vehicle title service license |
|
|
must apply on a form prescribed by the county tax |
|
|
assessor-collector. The application form must be signed by the |
|
|
applicant and accompanied by the required bond and application fee. |
|
|
(c) The application fee required by this section must be set |
|
|
at an amount sufficient to recover the actual cost to the county of |
|
|
administering this subchapter. |
|
|
SECTION 2. Section 520.057, Transportation Code, is amended |
|
|
by adding Subsection (c) to read as follows: |
|
|
(c) A holder of a motor vehicle title service license may |
|
|
maintain one copy of the records required to be maintained by this |
|
|
section in an electronic format. |
|
|
SECTION 3. The change in law made to Section 520.054, |
|
|
Transportation Code, as amended by this Act, applies only to an |
|
|
application for a motor vehicle title service license made on or |
|
|
after the effective date of this Act. An application for a motor |
|
|
vehicle title service license made before the effective date of |
|
|
this Act is governed by the law in effect when the application was |
|
|
made, and the former law is continued in effect for that purpose. |
|
|
SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2007. |
