A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
 
  relating to limitations on the compensation of county auditors for
  certain counties.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Section 152.032(d), Local Government Code, is
  amended to read as follows:
         (d)  Except as provided by Subsection (b), in a county with a
  population of more than 77,000 and less than 80,000, or 500,000 or
  more the amount of the compensation and allowances of a county
  auditor may be set in an amount that exceeds the limit established
  in Subsection (a) if the compensation and allowances are approved
  by the commissioners court of the county.
         SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
  a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
  provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.  If this
  Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
  Act takes effect September 1, 2007.
