AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the qualification of supervisors of a fresh water |
|
|
supply district. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 53.063, Water Code, is amended to read as |
|
|
follows: |
|
|
Sec. 53.063. SUPERVISOR'S QUALIFICATIONS. (a) Except as |
|
|
provided by Subsection (b), to [To] be qualified for election as a |
|
|
supervisor, a person must be: |
|
|
(1) a resident of this state; |
|
|
(2) the owner of taxable property in the district; and |
|
|
(3) at least 18 years of age [a registered voter of the
|
|
|
district]. |
|
|
(b) To be qualified for election as a supervisor of a |
|
|
district located wholly or partly in Denton County, a person must be |
|
|
a registered voter of the district. |
|
|
SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act does not |
|
|
affect the eligibility of a person serving as a supervisor of a |
|
|
fresh water supply district on the effective date of this Act to |
|
|
serve for the remainder of the person's term of office. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2007. |
