A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
 
  relating to the qualification of supervisors of a fresh water
  supply district.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Section 53.063, Water Code, is amended to read as
  follows:
         Sec. 53.063.  SUPERVISOR'S QUALIFICATIONS.  To be qualified
  for election as a supervisor, a person must be:
               (1)  a resident of this state;
               (2)  the owner of taxable property in the district; and
               (3)  at least 18 years of age [a registered voter of the
  district].
         SECTION 2.  The change in law made by this Act does not
  affect the eligibility of a person serving as a supervisor of a
  fresh water supply district on the effective date of this Act to
  serve for the remainder of the person's term of office.
         SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2007.
