A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|

|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to subsidies relating to Spanish language college advanced |
|
|
placement tests. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 28.054, Education Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Subsection (d) to read as follows: |
|
|
(d) Notwithstanding Subsection (c), on approval by the |
|
|
board, the agency shall pay each eligible applicant an amount equal |
|
|
to the full amount of the fee paid by the student to take a college |
|
|
advanced placement test of the student's proficiency in the Spanish |
|
|
language. |
|
|
SECTION 2. Section 28.054(d), Education Code, as added by |
|
|
this Act, applies only to an application for a subsidy submitted to |
|
|
the State Board of Education on or after the effective date of this |
|
|
Act. An application submitted before the effective date of this Act |
|
|
is governed by the law in effect immediately before the effective |
|
|
date of this Act, and the former law is continued in effect for that |
|
|
purpose. |

|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2007. |
