A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the proportional distribution of money from the Texas |
|
|
Enterprise Fund and the Texas emerging technology fund to different |
|
|
regions in this state. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 481.078, Government Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Subsection (e-2) to read as follows: |
|
|
(e-2) In granting money appropriated from the fund, the |
|
|
governor shall ensure that money from the fund is proportionally |
|
|
distributed to different regions of the state based on the |
|
|
population of the regions. |
|
|
SECTION 2. Section 490.102(a), Government Code, as added by |
|
|
Chapter 280, Acts of the 79th Legislature, Regular Session, 2005, |
|
|
is amended to read as follows: |
|
|
(a) Money appropriated to the fund by the legislature shall |
|
|
be allocated proportionally to different regions of the state based |
|
|
on the population of the regions, as follows: |
|
|
(1) 50 percent of the money for incentives for |
|
|
collaboration between certain entities as provided by Subchapter D; |
|
|
(2) 25 percent of the money for research grant |
|
|
matching as provided by Subchapter E; and |
|
|
(3) 25 percent of the money for acquisition of |
|
|
research superiority as provided by Subchapter F. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2007. |
